Chaos at the start of this race when there were initially 3 false starts after which all horses returned to the starting line. However, after a 4th false start 23 of the horses completed the course, victory going to Mr Henry Peirse's Carnival. Once again the starter protested that he had not started the race and ordered a re-run. Only 12 of the horses chose to re-run, the other 15 being withdrawn. In the race proper Comte D'Artois made the running until 2 furlongs from home when Barefoot passed him with ease and won by a comfortable 2 lengths in 3 minutes 23 seconds. In a career consisting of 20 races Barefoot won 10 and was second in a further 6 races, including successive Lancaster Gold Cups in 1825 and 1826. | Over Round 102% | ||
